The up-start rugby club likes their chances in the bracket and looks to make an impact on the competition in their first year. Please help the Deep South Rugby Union in welcoming Tallahassee Rugby Club to our LAU.

Three Deep South teams made the trip to Columbus, Georgia to participate in the Men's Division II & III playoffs, held on April 25th and 26th. Two of the three Deep South teams will be moving on to the National rounds of 16 and 8.
On Saturday April 25, Division II Deep South LAU West bracket winner New Orleans played Krewe (Tampa, FL) with that decision going the way of Krewe 26-10. Cross state rivals, and Deep South LAU West bracket #2 seed, Baton Rouge was matched against Jacksonville to complete the Florida versus Louisiana teams semi finals. In what was a tight match Baton Rouge managed to come out on top 24-17.
Sunday April 26, saw the top two Division II teams Baton Rouge and Krewe playing for the first and second seeds in the National round of 16. Oh, did I mention that bragging rights as South Division II Champion were also on the line! Baton Rouge started well enough racing to a 19 point halftime lead. However, the Krewe onslaught was launched in the second half. Krewe made the improbably come from behind to win the match 33-22. Congratualtions to Baton Rouge for making the Division II Men's Club South final after their first year returing to the Deep South from years in the Texas LAU. Baton Rouge secured the South TU second seed and will play against Midwest first seed on May 16th.
In Division III play the Pensacola Aviators dispatched Savannah 37-7. This victory meant that Pensacola would meet Hilton Head in the South Division III final. In a wide open game the Pensacola team had enough offense to see them clear of Hilton Head by a score of 27-11. The win sets Pensacola up as the South Division III Champions and secures them the South first seed in the Division III round of 8. Pensacola will play the Northeast first seed on May 16th.
Please join the Administration of the Deep South Rugby Union in congratulating Pensacola and Baton Rouge for making it to the USA Rugby Nationals. Good luck in the next round of National playoffs from all in the Deep South.

Cross state rivals, and West bracket #2 seed, Baton Rouge traveled north to take on Hunstville. It was a back and forth game domintated by periods of stout defense from both sides. Baton Rouge managed to outlast Huntsville with a 25 to 24 scoreline in favor of the Redsticks visitors.
In Division III play the Pensacola Aviators hosted High Country in a warm weather contest. In a fast paced game the Pensacola team managed to run away from the High Country team in the final quarter of the game, eventually winning 38 to 21. The administration of the Deep South Rugby Union is very pleased to announce that the Baton Rouge Women's Rugby Club joined the Deep South Rugby family.
Located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the team is known by friends and fellow competitors as the "Barbies." I wouldn't let that name fool you as they have become quite a rugby force among the women's rugby community. Baton Rouge Women's Rugby Club may be fairly new to rugby, forming in December of 2005, but they pride themselves on the quality of play on the pitch.
The Baton Rouge Women's Rugby Club will join the Deep South as a Women's Senior Division II club, beginning competitive play in the Fall of 2009. Please help us in welcoming the Baton Rouge Women to the Deep South Rugby Union and support them as they grow their rugby program.
