News & Press Releases from USA Rugby South
|
March 1, 2010
Hey coaches and players.
Here are the details for the Columbia, SC Mini-Camp for the Northern South Players:
Saturday, March 6th - 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Batesburg-Leesville Leisure Center, 227 Highland Avenue, Batesburg, SC 29006-1413
The gist of this camp is to better our basic skills and provide a fun, friendly, competitive environment to showcase your rugby prowess and possibly be selected to participate in the 2010 South player pool . The camp is open to all CIPP'ed players in the South who have played at least two seasons of rugby.
There will be a camp fee, ranging from $15 to $25, based on number of attendees. What we'll provide: field, lunch, water, ice, Gatorade, bananas, oranges, bars, a local trainer and a bit of rugby instruction. You'll need to bring: running shoes, molded cleats, mouth guard, water bottle, a light jersey and a dark jersey (club gear is okay for this event), "special" snacks if those we provide don't whet your appetite, and a good attitude.
We are excited about the venue as we are able to offer inexpensive and fun accommodations to all attendees.
Accomodations:
Camp Kinard 6053 Two Notch Road, Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29070 www.sclrc.com/campkinard
Approximately 5 minutes from Interstate 20, and approximately 8 miles from the above Pitch. Camp Kinard can provide dinner for a group of 20+ at $7.25/person in our Dining Hall. This will include main dish, sides, drink, and salad bar. There are bunkbed cottages available for our players to sleep in. These are twin beds, and each player would need to bring her own pillow and twin bedsheets or sleeping bag. Each cottage sleeps a total of 16. Cottages have their own bathrooms and lounge/sitting areas. The cost per person would be $10 for Saturday night or $15 for a Friday and Saturday night stay. Cheap, right? There are Lodge Rooms available, which are set up much like motel rooms and have 2 double beds and private bathrooms, but these are more expensive. Campfire, hayride, and teambuilding field games are on the house.
For obvious reasons, we need a firm head count on players attending and needing accommodations ASAP. If you are a player, please respond with your intent on attendance via email to me, PMJervey@gmail.com and/or to the team manager, Raelyn Barlow, RaelynRugby@aol.com. If you are a coach or a team contact, please forward to your players you think would benefit from this venue. If you have any questions or concerns, shoot me an email.
Thanks! Looking forward to the 2010 South season. RSVP today.
Cheers, Patty Jervey Coach, South Senior Women
We are, the South.
